All KCMS’s concerts are held in the stunning recital hall at Leighton House, located on the edge of Holland Park in Kensington and one of the most remarkable buildings of the 19th century. The house was the former home and studio of the leading Victorian artist, Frederic, Lord Leighton (1830-1896). Built to designs by George Aitchison, it was extended over a period of 30 years to create a private palace of art.
Following a £1.6m refurbishment project which involved extensive repairs to the original fabric of the house, Leighton House now offers a museum with fully restored decoration, interiors and original features. The Arab Hall with its priceless collection of Islamic tiles evoking a compelling vision of the Orient, the richly decorated interiors with gilded ceilings and walls lined with peacock blue tiles and Leighton’s grand painting studio with its great north window, dome and apse.
KCMS continues the tradition of music at Leighton House and is pleased to present its 2016-2017 season of concerts in this fabulous setting.
