With apologies, the programme for our January concert has had to change, owing to an unavoidable change in circumstances. In addition, the Alkyona Quartet’s first violinist, Emma Purslow, will be replaced by David Lopez.

Revised programme:

Felix Mendelssohn (1809-1847) Capriccio from Four Pieces for String Quartet, Op. 81
Alexander Borodin (1833-87) String Quartet No. 2 in D major

Maurice Ravel (1875-1937) String Quartet in F major

The Alkyona Quartet, ensemble in residence at Leighton House, is well known for its warm connection to audiences and vivacious performances, and its members are ‘as vibrant and memorable as their ‘Kingfisher’ namesake’. They released their debut album, “Intimate Letters’ in 2020; their programme for KCMS tonight includes Mendelssohn’s beloved Capriccio, Borodin’s beautiful second quartet with its famous Nocturne and Ravel’s masterful and only string quartet.
