With thanks to the Countess of Munster Musical Trust
Lord Leighton’s evening recital programmes drew together an eclectic mix of music, performed by some of the finest musicians of his day. One particular evening in April 1871 featured Pauline Viardot singing Gluck’s aria Divinités du Styx and Joseph Joachim playing Bach’s Chaconne from the gallery. We recreate such an evening, with narration from Katy Hamilton, acclaimed music historian and lecturer, Countess of Munster award winner Ionel Manciu, acclaimed mezzo-soprano Ciara Hendrick and KCMS Chairman William Vann.
