Liturina is an exciting young chamber group dedicated to exploring the potential of period instruments in diverse and challenging repertoire. Drawn together through their love of baroque chamber music, Iain Hall and Gabi Jones began playing together in 2017, and founded Liturina the following year, making their debut in St Albans Cathedral. This year Liturina were selected as finalists for the York Early Music International Young Artists Competition, and their programme was heralded as ‘particularly delicately played… an impressive performance’ – Andrew Benson-Wilson. Their programme ‘The Art of the Trio Sonata’ explores the history of this wonderful baroque form, the predecessor of the Classical and Romantic trios we heard in the opening concert of the season.
